Young Writers Summer Camp

Welcome to our 2025 summer camp season!

Lighthouse offers a wide array of full and half-day summer camps from June through August for young writers ages eight to 18. Whether they've got a few novels under their belt, are new but curious about poems, or are a reluctant writer, our camps offer a fun, creative, and challenging way for young people to explore and express who they are, build new friendships, and create truly beautiful works of art. Summer camps are offered in person at our Denver location at 3844 York Street and virtually, Monday through Friday, throughout the summer.

Camps range from our core offerings for writers hoping to explore all kinds of writing, including The Wild World of Writing for ages 8-10, Creative Writing Exploration for ages 11-13, and Creative Writing Cornerstones for ages 14-18, to camps focusing on Poetry and Visual Art, Screenwriting, D&D, Science Fiction and Fantasy, and more!

Lighthouse's Young Writers Program camps are led by published and award-winning writers, and each workshop is designed to foster creativity, self-expression, and excitement about writing. Full-day in-person and virtual half-day camps are available for all age groups throughout the summer. A one-week, Summer Intensive is offered once per summer for both middle school and high school writers.

    Half-Day and Full-Day Camps

We offer full and half-day camps for ages 8-18 from June through August, both in Denver and online. Our camps provide dedicated writing time, engaging exercises, and the personalized guidance of experienced, working writers. With only 6-12 campers per session, young writers receive individualized attention and thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment. More than just skill development, our camps foster confidence and a love for writing.

Middle School and High School Summer Writing Intensives

The Lighthouse Summer Writing Intensive is led by published and award-winning writers, and each workshop is designed to foster creativity, self-expression, and excitement about writing. During the week, young writers will work at length with a number of published instructors in a variety of genres and will leave camp with new knowledge about the craft of writing, at least one completed piece of work, and enthusiasm about pieces to come. Campers will be invited, but not required, to share a piece of writing in a public reading at the end of the week. Writers of all experience are welcome to apply!
