Join our Writing in Color Meetups in April, May, and June as we learn about new opportunities and resources that will help us grow as BIPOC+* writers and creatives together.

April Meetup with Raksha Vasudevan

How can fact-based research enrich and even inspire our creative writing? We'll look at cross-genre examples of writing that emerge from research collected in the "real world"--be it archives, in-person observation, interviews, or primary documents--and consider why and how to incorporate such sources in our work. Participants will leave with a deepened appreciation for the research process, a grounded sense of how to turn fact into poetry or prose, and the beginnings of a research plan for their own creative projects.

May Meetup with Rachel Werner

Collaboration is a crucial component to cultivating and sustaining arts-centered careers and community initiatives. So what does this theory look like in practice? And how do we continually foster new connections to ensure information is effectively shared amongst "creativepreneurs" about such opportunities? Using contemporary program examples and an interactive activity, author and The Little Book Project WI founder Rachel Werner will unpack how to intentionally nurture relationships between individuals and organizations to reinvigorate, as well as fund, your professional writing goals.

*BIPOC+ includes but is not limited to: African, Indigenous, Native, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Arab, and Multiracial heritage.
