This class is a workshop and writer's group for prose writers designed to give you that precious window to work and to simultaneously bring to life your works-in-progress via a process aimed at establishing and maintaining a steady momentum. We'll meet twice a week, on Sundays from 1:00-3:00 PM, and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 PM. Our Thursday meeting will be time to write with the instructor on hand for advice, questions, and encouragement. Our Sunday Sound Check meeting will be the more traditional "class" portion of this course, where participants can share their work to receive first-blush verbal feedback from their peers. Writers can submit 500-1000 words per week to receive detailed feedback from the instructor. Open to anyone working in prose (including hybrid), writers can submit excerpts from their works-in-progress such as complete or partial scenes; flash fiction; flash CNF; and/or vignettes. Our goal will be to use the short sections we get feedback on as microcosms of our longer work, using the feedback we get on these individual scenes or bursts of writing to affect our work as a whole.
Regardless of what stage you're at in your current work-in-progress, the time to seriously work toward finishing that project is now. This writer’s group is designed to give you that foundation, community, accountability, support, guidance, encouragement, and motivation to get it done!
