Want to learn how to write the next great movie? In this eight-week course, we'll develop, pitch, and write the first act (about 30 pages) of a script. Writers will learn screenplay structure, formatting, how to write quotable dialogue and create memorable characters, and they'll receive workshop feedback on their pages. Finally, writers will leave with the tools to finish their script. This course is ideal for first-time screenwriters.
In this course, writers can expect writing in and out of class, first-blush verbal feedback on short pieces in class, and short lectures and discussion. Because this is an intro class, feedback will focus on being encouraging, framing positive comments and bringing out what the writer is trying to do. Writers are free to bring in their own questions as well.
