4-Week: Our Animals, Ourselves

This four-week workshop delves into how we write about animals: our dogs, cats, and parrot, the felled osprey in the nearby park, or the fox loping through the local assisted facility on a fall morning. What can we say authentically about these beings? What does our writing and thinking reveal about us? There will be weekly handouts (some likely inspiration from Sy Montgomery, Linda Hogan, Christian Cooper, and Susan Orlean), short writing exercises, and in-class discussions about craft and content. Class is appropriate for all levels and genres. Intermediate and advanced students are encouraged to bring in work that fits the topic for first-blush feedback from the instructor and your peers.
