Amy Zhang

Amy Zhang is a multidisciplinary storyteller and the winner of the 2022 Joyland Open Borders Fiction Prize. Previously, she was the non-fiction editor at Hyphen magazine and a segment producer for Netflix’s Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. Her essays and reportage can be found in the New York Times, The Dial, The Atlantic, Atlas Obscura, AFAR Magazine, and her documentary theater play  "Ascend!" premiered at The Tank in 2021. She was previously a book editor and writing coach for Heidi Pitlor Editorial, has taught writing extensively through Great Books Summer Program, and finds nothing more satisfying than working with creative minds and helping people bring ideas to fruition. Hailing from Beijing, New York, and Hong Kong, Amy loves writing that bridges cultures, perspectives, and histories.
