Writing in Color Fest Presents: “The Revolution Will Be Live”—Art as Resistance

$25.00 Members
$30.00 Non-members

In Notes of a Native Son, James Baldwin writes, “This is the only real concern of the artist, to recreate out of the disorder of life that order which is art.” But how can artists apply Baldwin’s words to life today? In a world marked by upheaval, injustice, and uncertainty, how can a creative practice help us make sense of our experiences and challenge dominant systems of power? In this onstage conversation, local BIPOC+ writers and visual artists will come together for an illuminating discussion on how art making can serve as a powerful act of resistance. We'll explore the ways in which the very existence of our art—and our commitment to creating it—is essential in times of chaos and darkness.

This event is part of the Writing in Color Fest and is open to all writers, creatives and art lovers who would like to attend. The goal of the Fest is to provide a space for writers of color to be in community and thrive as they grow their writing skills.
