Open to staff members of Denver area social service organizations, these workshops encourage direct service workers to express their feelings and process the full range of their experiences through creative writing. These workshops aim to balance serious work with wholehearted fun, creating a much-needed community for social service workers. Come with your curiosity and openness, and leave with writing tools and a renewed sense of the nourishing effects of storytelling. No prior writing experience is required to participate.
Each participant will have the opportunity to publish their writing in an anthology, which will be distributed at a celebration at the end of the eight weeks.
In order to honor the time and energy that will be required to engage in the workshops, participants will be paid $30 per workshop when they attend. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend at least six of the eight sessions in order to gain the full benefit of the workshop series.
Please note, the first four weeks of this course will meet on Zoom. The last four weeks will be hosted in person at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver.
