This class will help writers tackle what might seem like the overwhelming task of writing a short story. Whether you are just beginning to write fiction or looking for guidance on a current draft, this introductory workshop will provide insight and direction to move you forward. For the first four to five weeks, participants can expect a mix of discussion, readings, and in-class writing exercises covering short-story fundamentals such as character, conflict, plot, point of view, dialogue, and setting. In the final three to four weeks, everyone may workshop up to twelve double-spaced pages of a work in progress.
Scheduling note: To accommodate the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no class on November 28.
