4-Week: Five Things You Find in a Scene

$240.00 Members
$265.00 Non-members

Despite being the backbone of nearly all good prose, a scene can be a tricky thing. Every scene is an episode set in one place and time in which characters undergo some sort of transformation. In this class, we’ll get into the nitty-gritty of the five things every scene needs to be great: atmosphere, intention, point of view, dialogue, and turns. Let’s talk about the many ways we can use scenes to develop our stories, transform our characters, and surprise our readers. We’ll study dozens of examples and try a dozen of our own to become master scene makers.

Please note that our four-week workshops do not include formal critiques, though there may be opportunities for informal sharing. If you’d like your work critiqued in depth, please see the 8-week workshop listings.
