Lauren Markham

Lauren Markham is a writer based in California. She is the author of A Map of Future Ruins: On Borders and Belonging, and The Far Away Brothers: Two Young Migrants and the Making of an American Life, which was awarded the Northern California Book Award, The California Book Award Silver Medal, and the Ridenhour Prize. Her essays, fiction and journalism regularly appear in outlets such as Harper's, The New York Times Magazine, Lithub, The New York Review of Books, and VQR, where she is a contributing editor. Her third book, Immemorial, will be published by Transit Books in 2025.
