General Policy
For all Lighthouse programs, excepting Lit Fest and retreats, the following refund schedule applies*:
- More than three weeks before start date: A cancellation fee of 10% of the total workshop cost applies to refunds, credits, or switches.
- Less than three weeks before start date: 25% cancellation fee applies to refunds, credits, or switches.
- 48 hours or less before class start: No refund, credit, or course switches are available.
Please check your order details in your email confirmation. If you notice any errors (such as a duplicate item purchase, scheduling conflict, incorrect day/time, etc.) please contact staff at info@lighthousewriters.org within 2 business days from your date of purchase to avoid cancellation fees.
All deposits and payments made are nontransferable. Lighthouse cannot provide refunds, transfer payments, or offer makeup sessions for classes a student might miss, for any reason. All memberships, event tickets and special events purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable. (For all retreats, please see retreat brochure for cancellation policies.) If Lighthouse has to cancel a class, you will receive a full refund or credit. Please note that credits expire one year after they are issued.
Lit Fest Advanced Workshops
For advanced Lit Fest workshops, $200 of the total tuition acts as a non-refundable deposit. Of the remainder, any cancellation received more than one month before start date will receive a 50 percent refund. Less than one month before the start date, there is no refund available, and any balance due will still need to be paid in full. At that point, the instructor—and classmates—will have already read and prepared your submission.
Lit Fest
If you need to withdraw from a non-advanced workshop or craft seminar for any reason, the following refund schedule applies:
- Before May 25: A cancellation fee of 10 percent of the total workshop cost applies.
- After May 25: 35 percent cancellation fee applies.
- 48 hours or less before the start of Lit Fest: No refund is available.
Registration for craft seminars and intensives are nontransferable and purchases of festival passes, agent meetings, business panels, and salons are non-refundable and non-transferable. Pass holders may transfer craft seminars up to, but not beyond 48 hours before the festival begins.
Grand Lake Retreat
If you need to cancel your Grand Lake reservation for any reason, the following applies:
- $100 cancellation fee for cancellations before May 10.
- After May 10, we are unable to refund the cost of room and board, and a $200 cancellation fee applies.
- After June 10, we are unable to provide any refund or credit. At this point, you are able to donate your space to a writer who wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford it, or seek a replacement.
Rekindle Retreat
A $500 non-refundable is due to reserve your space. The following cancelation schedule applies:
- Before January 15, all but the $500 deposit is refundable.
- Between January 15 and April 1, a 50% refund is available.
- April 1 and after, no refund is available.
