4-Week: Draft a Short Story or Essay

$240.00 Members
$265.00 Non-members

This generative, writing-intensive course will focus on the most important elements of writing short prose (fiction or personal essays) while keeping you on deadline. We’ll start at the beginning (how to write a great opening), then discuss evocative landscapes, narrative arcs, convincing characters, and make sure our drafts come equipped with a sturdy backbone of ideas. By the end, you’ll have something to show for yourself—and maybe something to publish. Perfect for any level of fiction or nonfiction writer, whether you're a seasoned pro or just want to try your hand at something new. Come with an idea and willingness to write!

Please note that our four-week workshops do not include formal critiques, though there may be opportunities for informal sharing. If you’d like your work critiqued in depth, please see the eight-week workshop listings.
