What's the most surprising source of inspiration for you lately? I have been revisiting the existentialists. Sartre, De Beauvoir, Jaspers and, especially, Camus. More with an appreciation of the energy with which they addressed their work that the philosophical tenets. Much of the writing is tedious and, from our vantage, naive. But they truly desired and sought to live "the life of mind."
What are you working on these days? A new novel. And painting in a series I call "Redactions."
How would you describe your workshop style? Free.
Any interesting/unusual writing habits? I do not work with a schedule. I do work every day.
